Calling All Students, Career Starters & Military Community in the Tri-State Area!

Do you have a passion for working with data and solving challenges? Is there a burning question you want answered about your favorite topic? Then this datathon is for you!

In three rounds of competition, you will tackle analytical challenges using real-world data about different topics relating to New York City.

And the best part is that no prior experience is required, and registration is completely free.

Participants must be 18 years of age or older. Official rules and terms and conditions apply.

Where and When?

Virtual Qualifying Round – Submissions due by Wednesday, March 13th, 2024

  • This is an online challenge. Choose a data challenge from a set of topics relating to New York City.
  • The qualifying round opens on February 1st, 2024, with submissions due by 11:59pm ET on March 13th. Submit your solution, which will be reviewed and scored by an independent judging panel.
  • The top 75 individuals with the most points will be eligible to move onto the semi-finals.

Semi-Final Round: In-Person Second Data Challenge – Friday, March 22nd, 2024 @ the Alteryx New York Office

  • Hosted at the Alteryx NY office, participants will be placed in teams and assigned a unique, real-world data challenge to solve.
  • Teams will present their findings to a judging panel and the top three teams with the most points will move onto the final round.

Final Round: In-Person Final Speed Challenge – Friday, March 22nd, 2024 @ the Alteryx New York Office

  • Hosted at the Alteryx NY Office , the top three teams will compete in a final time-based round, where the overall Spark Your Interests: Datathon NYC winners will be announced.

  2. Attend the virtual training workshops

Virtual Training Workshops

Alteryx SparkED will host a kick-off call and four optional virtual training workshops in the lead up to the qualifying round. The workshops are designed to:

  • get you familiar with the Alteryx Designer platform, and
  • hear from industry experts about their analytics journey and how they use Alteryx.

The kick-off call and the first workshop take place on Thursday, February 15th. The following virtual training workshops take place every Thursday until March 7th.

The workshops are optional to attend, but we strongly recommend you do.
