Do you have a passion for working with data and solving challenges? Is there a burning question you want answered about the city of Dallas, using real-world data? Then this datathon is for you!

*Participants must be 18 years of age or older, currently studying at an authorized education institution in Dallas, and obtain and show proof of at least one Alteryx Designer Core Micro Credential. Official rules and terms and conditions apply.

Where and When?

When: Friday, April 5th from 8:00am to 5:30pm CDT
Where: On campus at The University of Texas at Dallas

Semi-Final: In-Person Data Challenge

  • Participants will be placed in teams and assigned a unique, real-world data challenge to solve.
  • Teams will present their findings to a judging panel and the top three teams with the most points will move onto the final.

Final: In-Person Speed Challenge

  • The top three teams will compete in a final time-based round, where the overall Datathon winners will be announced.

How do I qualify?

You need to obtain and show proof of at least one Alteryx Designer Core Micro Credential.

Submit confirmation of your micro credential.


How do I prepare for the Datathon?

  1. Register, download and activate your complimentary Alteryx SparkED student license.
  2. Attend the virtual training workshops.
  3. Obtain at least one Alteryx Designer Core Micro Credential and submit confirmation of your micro credential before the date of the Datathon.

Virtual Training Workshops

Alteryx SparkED will host a kick-off call and four optional virtual training workshops in the lead up to the Datathon. The workshops are designed to:

  • get you familiar with the Alteryx Designer platform, and
  • hear from industry experts about their analytics journey and how they use Alteryx.

The kick-off call will take place on Tuesday, March 19th, with the virtual training workshops taking place every Friday starting March 8th until March 29th.

The workshops are optional to attend, but we strongly recommend you do.
